About us

INTECH is a unique, exciting interactive centre administered by the educational charity, The Hampshire Technology Centre Trust Ltd, with the specific purpose of promoting the knowledge and understanding of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Aims of the Hampshire Technology Centre Trust Limited

To advance the education, knowledge and understanding of the public, in particular the young, in basic technological and scientific principles and processes, particularly through the improvement of links between industrial, commercial and educational bodies and institutions.

In 2002 INTECH was re-housed into a new 3,500 square metre purpose-built, award winning building at Morn Hill, near Winchester. The multi-million pound project was funded partly through the Millennium Commission, NTL, IBM, the DfES and DTI, SEEDA and HCC.

The stimulating, fun exhibition consists of 100 hands-on interactive exhibits, which communicate the fundamental principles of science and technology and their applications in industry and the home.

Schools visiting INTECH benefit by participating in a whole host of scientific and technological investigations and hands-on experiences which cover many areas of the curriculum.

INTECH also runs workshops with pre-planned learning outcomes for class-sized groups on topics such as computer aided design and manufacturing and building a radio from scratch.  The workshops can be delivered at INTECH or offsite as part of our Outreach programme

Within INTECH the inspirational and lively education team provides curriculum related workshops and work related activities including computer aided design and manufacture. INTECH also offers continuing professional development for teachers.

INTECH is home to Setpoint Hampshire and the IOW.  Setpoints are the regional centres for the national Science, Engineering, Technology and Maths Network (SETNET).  A great advantage to hosting a Setpoint is that INTECH has access to Science & Engineering Ambassadors (SEAS).  SEAS come from many different areas of engineering and volunteer to help with projects or clubs both here at INTECH or in the school.

INTECH also has a wider role in the community by presenting exhilarating, educational and fun science shows, such as The Magic of Chemistry, The Science of Christmas and the science of chocolate.

As well as a superb all-weather centre INTECH offers a variety of flexible facilities for meetings, conferences, launches and hospitality.  The 200 seat auditorium with tiered seating has state of the art lighting and sound including an induction loop and air conditioning.

The INTECH shop stocks a wide range of educational and novel toys and gifts.

The car park is spacious and free. If it is full the centre is full!

The Hampshire Technology Centre Trust Ltd which runs INTECH is an independent educational charity.  Registered Charity number: 294582.
